Drugs continue to be a threat to the health and welfare of Bermuda’s communities.  Drug and alcohol abuse in Bermuda creates staggering societal costs and prevents people from reaching their full potential at school, on the job, and in our community.   To improve the well-being of our Country and to protect our people, we must continue to make the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse a national priority.

You can make a difference by getting involved in PRIDE Bermuda’s Red Ribbon Week 2006. The Red Ribbon Celebration is designed to encourage healthy, drug-free and violence-free lifestyles among youth and adults.

We Know That:

Parents and concerned adults play a vital role in the prevention of youth drug and alcohol abuse.
The Red Ribbon Celebration will not (nor is it intended to) single-handedly fix the drug problem. There is not a single approach to prevention that can eliminate a problem so complex.   However, the Red Ribbon Celebration does provide opportunities to raise awareness and draw attention to the need for prevention.
Remember, the most successful Red Ribbon Celebration is one that opens the doors of communication between students and teachers, children and parents, youth and police, as well as students and the professionals who are committed to serving their needs.

Join PRIDE in celebrating prevention as the organization continues to reach children, youth, parents and concerned adults with the important message that we must unite for a drug free and safe Bermuda.
